This game is based on the film of the same name; a poor sequel to one of the greatest action films ever made.

Although the game is very much a clone of Operation Wolf, it's not that bad. The main difference between this and similar games is that you can see your character's outline and you only take damage when bad guys are firing and they are directly in line with your character (at least that's what I figure).

Boy is this game tough though. The sheer number of enemies it throws at you means you have to perform some pretty nifty finger gymnastics to stay on top of things. To make things harder, you'll be attacked by melee enemies in the bottom area of the screen and you have to move the cursor to the bottom to perform a melee attack.

You must also be careful not to hit innocent bystanders as this will decrease your shield rating (badge in the bottom left). If it runs out then it's game over.

The titular Predator features within each level, but you can't kill him. Shooting him will simply make him angry and he'll launch a spear/disc at you that you have to shoot to avoid taking damage.

Fortunately, you can pick up better weapons by shooting them as they appear. The weird thing is that you get 3 tiers of bonus weapons, with the MK1 assault rifle being the best (fastest firing) and MK3 being the slowest. If you run out of ammunition then you downgrade to the next rank in return for some extra ammo, although you're back to pistol if you run out of ammo for the MK3.

Additional ammo can be picked up by shooting the magazines that the bad guys drop and you'll certainly need it since the MK1 chews through ammo like anything.

You can also gain bonus armour/health by shooting the bullet-proof vests that bad guys occasionally drop.

This wouldn't be a description without a list of gripes, so here goes:

1) The game is a bit too difficult at times with so many enemies popping up on screen.

2) Level 1 goes on for far too long.

3) The later levels are made harder by the number of Predators on screen at once. Shooting their projectiles can be hard as the ones in the bottom part of the screen cause you to perform the melee move when you really wanted to shoot the spear/disc flying at you instead.

4) Ludicrous body count.

Despite these issues, I've played a lot worse than this and it certainly gains a few bonus points for not being a multi-load. I wouldn't call it a classic by any means, but it's entertaining for a few goes.

Enjoy!
