Super PunchOut!! is an arcade boxing game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo in 1994 (95 for Europe and 98 for Japan) as a sequel to Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! for the Nintendo Entertainment System. In the game, the player is tasked with taking on various boxing champions by completing circuits and earning points, with each circuit containing three minor boxers and a circuit champion. Each boxer has a different attack pattern and special moves, which the player will have to learn and avoid in order to win the match. Unlike the original Punch-Out!! on the NES, Super Punch-Out!! doesn't allow the player to win by points, and instead they must win by a Knock out or Technical knock out (done by draining the opponent's health bar three times). And, well, that's basically it. There is a time trial mode, where the player's goal is to complete the circuit as quickly as possible, but that's the only other gameplay mode. Graphically the game is quite impressive, with colorful pixel art and impressive lighting and transparency effects. Sound effects are also well done. It's definitely a highly recommended game. The game does have a sequel, found on the Wii (known simply as Punch-Out!!), as well as a re-release on the Switch and "New" Nintendo 3DS. The version shown here is the original Super Nintendo Version recorded on real hardware.
