Remember that scene from Temple of Doom where they're on the mine-carts and are speeding along towards certain doom? Yeah, that was a fun scene, and if you ever wanted to relive it without all the, you know... risk of death and getting flattened like a pancake and all, then you're in for a treat with Rail Rush Words.

The game is a frantic, mad dash through a series of rails that had to have been created by the mad love child of Escher and Dr. Frankenstein as raised by Dali. Well, granted, the game doesn't look quite that bizarre or absurd, but the tracks are certainly not what one would expect from any real-world mineshaft made by anyone with even an ounce of common sense. Still, it makes for some great gameplay and certainly makes the game a whole lot more interesting and frantic. And that certainly makes for some moments later on where you're thrashing about wildly jumping at every single thing on the screen in an attempt to get even a few meters further.

For the most part, the controls are fairly simple. You can jump your mine-cart, duck under things, and lean left and right. The leaning part serves various purposes, not least of which is enabling you to lean out to grab goodies just out of your reach and to shift to adjacent tracks just in time to avoid running into sudden dead ends. Another important part of that is avoiding getting crushed under inexplicably placed steam pistons or hitting obstacles that were, for somehow placed there.

As you grab all of the goodies around the track, you'll inevitably improve you score. This serves not only to boost your ego, but it will also enable you to purchase upgrades to your minecart or get different avatars. These upgrades range from magnets to attract gold nuggets, to second chances that bring you back to life after hitting an obstacle, to the ability to double the number of nuggets you get from a single grab. But those aren't all, there are a bunch of other upgrades available to you should you wish them. But be careful, getting all of those goodies requires some serious work to collect enough gold nuggets to grab them, and you might very well find yourself having all of your time eaten by the game, not, of course, that that's necessarily a bad thing.
