Robots blowing things up, while perhaps a rather overdone genre, is still one that presents a great deal of fun. Robot Rampage gives you exactly that, with some great-looking visuals, frantic gameplay, and, of course, exploding robots.

As aforementioned, the game has some really great visuals. You've got a pre-rendered 3D figure as your main character. The robot is armed with a variety of weapons and will animate nicely as it swings those weapons around as you aim at things. And no, it's not simple animation where the arms are the only thing to move like some sort of chrome-plated Mickey Mouse alarm clock. Instead, the entire body moves around as well, as one would expect from a figure holding a mini-gun, bazooka, flamethrower, or whatever weapon is being used at the time. Further, the baddies that you'll be facing also animate nicely. They'll have spinning buzzsaws of doom, their own mini-guns sending lead death towards you, and even carrier robots that'll visually drop other robots at you from above.

Perhaps one of the most interesting visual aspects (and indeed, gameplay aspects as well) of the game is that as you destroy the enemy robots, their remains will shatter and explode (as anything mechanical is wont to do in games). After the explosion, their spare parts will remain on the playing field and eventually build up higher and higher so soon you'll be hundreds of feet in the air while standing on the charred remains of your foes. At this point, a certain barbaric individual would quip about lamentations of women and seeing others driven before you, and it would indeed be appropriate.

To control your robot, you use the typical WASD keys. Left and right will move you, of course, left and right. The up or W key will activate your jetpacks and get you airborne. Take note though, that you can't spend forever flying, so short bursts of air-time are much more effective than prolonged flight. You'll aim at things by moving your mouse around and the left mouse button to fire once you've selected the robot to be destroyed. Lastly, you'll use the Q and E keys to switch weapons around in conjunction with your scroll wheel. One will switch your weapons around and the other will switch around between the different weapon upgrades available to you. At base level, most of the weapons have an infinite ammo supply, but improved levels should be rationed as you're liable to run out of them.

So if you're looking for some robot destruction, then look no further than Robot Rampage!
