This video will show you how to rename snapshot copies in Data OnTap via the command line interface. First you list your snapshot copies by using the snap list command. Then you use the snap rename command to rename the snapshot copy. In this case I renamed the hourly.0 snapshot copy in vol0 to July8vol0.
You may want to rename a snapshot if you want to save it from being overwritten by a snap sched (snapshot schedule) which will overwrite the snapshot if it contains the same name as your regularly scheduled snapshot copies. So you use the snap rename command to save a Snapshot copy that contains data you want to keep. . .
