Developed originally for Sega Dreamcast, and later ported to xbox live, Rez infinite gets resurrected as one of PSVR's launch titles. The object of the same is shoot down everything you can and make it to the end of the level, where you'll battle a boss. There are five levels, each broken down into ten stages. and each level lasts between 10 and 20 minutes. There's also score attack, boss rush, and a handful of other modes in case you get bored. Rez Infinite is an on-rails shooter, meaning you don't move you just aim and shoot. The shooting is kind of strange, you're suppose to hold the fire button and lock on to enemies to fire a homing missile-- it feels kind of puny. You can lock on up to 8 enemies, and you'll want to keep the chains up if you're playing score attack. There's also a button for overdrive which clears the screen. It's difficult to hit the enemies from behind when you're not playing in VR mode, but I'm glad they included the option to play without it. Speaking of which this game looks awesome virtual reality. The music and visuals tingle your senses. It's like Rez was specifically made VR even though it came out 15 years ago, so it's nice that the people behind the game had enough passion to keep it going. There's also a new level called area X, which breaks from the linear shooting and let's you fly around at your will. After playing this, I wished the whole the game was open-environment. The on-rails thing just feels a bit restrictive and unnatural. Overall, Rez Infinite is trippy experience that I can only recommend if you have VR. If you don't have VR it's still playable but not as impressive, and it can be difficult to gauge where everything is. Have you tried Rez Infinite yet? What about Thumper? Which do you like better?
