This is the "One Hit" mission that is first set up by Gary telling me about being hired by Mercenaries and finding out about their plans and thinking they are going to kill him, he escapes and makes it to the Laundromat. The timing of when Gary tells you is up to him but the second part when you inform Colonel Kovalsky about what Gary discovered, is up to you the Player. In other words, you can choose when this will happen and choose favorable conditions for time of day and be Emission free.

When you talk to Kovalsky, there is an actual choice of options on who your target is. Do you go after Serbin, the leader of the Mercenaries wearing a green Ecologist suit or Jackal, the leader of the Mercenaries wearing an Exoskeleton? I believe the reason there is a choice is because the Game automatically transports you to the room on the top floor, of the apartment building overlooking the meeting in the plaza between the two wings of the larger apartment building south of it. The SVD and ammo also appear in my inventory. If you use the SVD, that means after you first kill Serbin or Jackal ( the two choices ) then everyone will start running and the odds and difficulty in killing the one you don't first choose, is what gives this the level of difficulty and increase in reward. Killing more than two is possible but more than that becomes almost impossible with the slow firing SVD.

For this reason, long ago back in 2009, I decided to forgo using the SVD and instead bring the RPG-7 and at least 4 rounds of OG-7V as a much better choice. The Player finds an RPG-7 and several rounds in Pripyat so it's not like you have to go back to Zaton or Jupiter to get it. Using the RPG-7 means I can kill both Serbin and Jackal with my first shot. Additional rounds can be used to prevent anyone from escaping and in this video, I shoot a total of three rounds with 6 dead on the ground. However, after only recovering three GP-37s and one RPG-7 from the dead, I am left with the feeling someone escaped. I did not count how many total people there were beforehand.

Of course, Colonel Kovalsky is happy I got both targets and says I can keep the SVD that I don't need. After recovering the red keycard from the dead Serbin, I am ready now to conquer the Yubileiny Service Center, which is the biggest event in Pripyat. Remember that returning to the Laundromat coming back from the X-8 Lab part, means Gary has vanished and I am stuck in Pripyat with only the Evacuation as my only way to escape, which ends the Game.

I'm going to try this scenario again and see if I can kill more than six Mercenaries. For some reason I thought there were eight total, but my memory may be faulty, and I should have counted them at the beginning to be sure.
