It was too dark to go out, so I decided to load up on excess weapons and make a trip to Zaton. I arrived late at night and quickly sold a second PKM to the Exoskeleton Loner in the Bar aboard the Skadovsk. An AN-94 was next and a couple of SPSA-14s to the other Loners, then the rest were sold in bulk to Owl. I saw an Exoskeleton Loner and his buddy positioned between the two ships and he had plenty of money, but I had nothing more to sell. Hopefully the next time.

When I returned to Pripyat it was just after 8am and an Emission had just taken place so I knew I would have another window of opportunity to do something. I still didn't feel like talking to Colonel Kovalsky and initiating the "One Hit" mission with the Mercenaries so I thought I would just go out again. Where would I go? I was going to just let it happen and be determined by the action, men or mutants I would see.

Across the boulevard, at the usual place I shot a couple of rodents. I climbed the nearby tree and looked both north and south down the boulevard, as if letting what I may find decide my direction. I saw no movement, so I traveled north a bit, stopping at the intersection where the two buses were, and I often saw mutants north of the Kindergarten. As before I got inside the radioactive bus and peered out the back window. There were rodents there and I shot several. From being in this same location before, I had Zombies appear behind me coming down the boulevard from the north, but that did not happen this time. Instead, a Bloodsucker appeared where I shot the rodents. Even using the Gauss rifle, it survived being zapped one time but was visibly injured. One more shot did the job.

With this one direction now cleared, I did something different. For the first time in a while, I left the Chimera at the Hospital alone and I went north where the Bloodsucker and rodents were killed that opened up in a large open area where there was some playground equipment. I could see the School to the north and the Yubileiny Service Center loomed largely to the west. I chose to keep going north but moving more closer to the eastern side of the playground, using two elevated objects to look around as I cautiously moved forward. I saw some rodents and Pseudodogs at the School and shot a few. For that reason, I approached the School but from the small building outside of it where I attempted to go to a second floor and then to the roof of the greenhouse looking section but was unable to. I went down again and then passed through it.

Passing the School, I turned around and shot at some more rodents but turned and continued north going between the two large apartment buildings and toward the bus in the street. From there I continued slightly north-east, looking at the River Port but seeing no one. On the other side of the Prometheus statue, I saw two Zombies just loitering. This is a location I had seen Zombies before but not in my current Game. A quick kill and loot and I decided to go west on the north side of the Prometheus Movie Theater.

I halfway expected my Mini-Map to detect NPCs inside of it, but it was empty. I continued all the way around it until I got to the farthest north-east corner where I could see the Ferris Wheel over the barbed wire. From there I was now going south, looking at the far western side and elaborate entrance of the Prometheus Movie Theater. I continued on, going past the Old Service Center and met some rodents outside an apartment building going along the fence line. I was now just north of the Yubileiny Service Center and my only way was to go past it.

The fence line opened up westward and I skirted the edge of it, suddenly having my Mini-Map detector registering more and more NPCs inside. A dozen soon shot up to two dozen in number, giving me an idea of the huge amount of enemies I would soon face. I did not linger and made my way as quick as possible, having to add another Goldfish artifact for speed. Luckily there did not seem to be any Monolith on the ground floor to come out to attack me, and I hastily made my retreat to the south and soon found myself back at the large open area with the fire and burner anomalies but coming from the north.

This time I got to see where that third unknown Zombie was standing, and it was facing me coming from the north. I killed and looted it and was soon working my way around the eastern side of the former basketball court, where I saw the other two Zombies where I had known they were always found. After killing and looting five Zombies on this outing, I had more than enough loot and made my way eastward going between the various buildings and was soon back to the Laundromat safely.

This Reconnaissance of the Yubileiny Service Center had not been planned, but it was good to know how many were there. Probably a mix of Zombies on the lower floors and the Monolith on the upper floors and the only advantage I had was my helmet infrared scanner.
