#Reality#PowerOutage

This video comprises 9 demos (including one outtake), many in clip form, for the challenge of scoring all monsters, items and secrets from a pistol start with no damage taken whatsoever on Scythe's Map 14 'Power Outage'. The first demo is performed cautiously for maximum safety, with live commentary. The rest of the video documents my attempts at completing the challenge at speed, culminating in the new UV Max + Reality + Items World Record for this map. There is commentary throughout the video.

Scythe is the popular 32-map vanilla-compatible Doom 2 megawad released by Erik Alm and Kim 'Torn' Bach in 2003 and can be downloaded for free from: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/megawads/scythe

Erik Alm has hit it out of the (walk in the) park with this creation, which packs a lot of entertainment into it's small layout. The gimmick of Doomguy turning the power back on must be one of the cleverest ideas of its time for vanilla mapping (2003) and impresses me very much in 2021.
Despite a high proportion of hitscan enemies, it wasn't too frustrating to speedrun --- I did achieve close to a 1 per cent success rate overall, although this fell dramatically as I took more risks.

I'd like to thank Cyberdemon531 for giving me a target of 1:44.97 to beat --- breaking the record was not easy for me. My record time also gave me the satisfaction of being just 1 tic below a second barrier, for the first time in my speedrunning career.
