Last time, we had ourselves a very quick chapter and let the Artificer do their thing. The machines in Sky Base finally stopped producing new clouds, so this world finally took a step in the right direction. Now we can see the moon that is sunk below the ocean. The plan is to sink down there and confront the Dweller of Dread. This will be a unique fight, as it's the first and really only time you'll fight a Dweller without an eclipse to weaken it. Should be intersting...

CHAPTER 41 - THE DWELLER OF DREAD

You're going to have to think about what food items you'll want to bring with you. I ended up bringing the following:

2x Poutine
2x Champion's Omelette
1x Yakitori Shrimp
1x Pudding Chomeur
1x Pain Dore
2x Gourmet Burger
1x Tataki

You can get the recipe for Poutine by trading in 35 Rainbow Conches to Mirna in Docarri Village. It's superior to the Parfait, as it revives at 100% HP. The only recipe I didn't have is the one for 'Pudding Chomeur'. You'll need to get 47 Rainbow Conches to get this recipe. But luckily, I found one at the Lost Ones Hamlet or something.

So I felt fairly prepared with these items and didn't end up using most of them, thankfully. When you're ready to take this challenge, sail to the spot marked on the map and dive down to the moon below. After a few screens, the fight against the Dweller will begin...

Boss Battle - Dweller of Dread, Tentacle

I'm not sure exactly how much HP this guy has, but it's certainly a lot, just like the other Dwellers we've seen. If I had to guess, I would say maybe 7,500? The Zale or Valere's Ultimate Skills do about 1,500 HP damage and I feel I used about 3 Ultimate Skills. Plus, the normal damage from the fight... so yeah, I estimate about 7,500.

You'll start off fighting two tentacles. This actually not bad at all, as it will help you build up the Ultimate gauge, as well as Combo points. When these die, you'll then fight... two more tentacles! Still, not bad at all. Keep doing what you're doing and make sure to heal via Mending Light or some skill before these second round of tentacles die.

In the third round, you'll finally face off against the Dweller, along with two more tentacles. Before we talk strategy, let's go over the attacks we'll see here:

Tentacle Slap - This is one of the tentacle's basic attacks, it hits one person for about 50 damage.

Needle Shot - Another tentacle basic attack, hits one person for about 50 damage.

Mouth Grab: This is the Dweller's basic attack. He'll cover the entire party with his mouth and hit about three times, dealing about 25-40 damage. Not that bad.

Tentacle Grab: This is a special attack only performed by the tentacles in the final round. It will grab one party member and then give you one turn to stop it before it feeds you to the Dweller (I think this follow-up move is called 'Chomp Chomp' or something). This move does HEAVY damage, like +150 HP and it actually the one move you should avoid at all cost.

Dread Stare: Lastly, we have the Dweller's special attack. It will hypnotize you and then force you to fight one of the other party members. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can't break out of this until you use an attack that's boosted with live mana. Either way, this attack isn't that bad really, for being the special attack of such an important boss.

Ok, now that we've covered that... The main strategy is to build up your Ultimate and Combo gauges as quickly as possible. Ideally, using 'attack-all' skills to pick off the tentacles, while also dealing damage to the Dweller. Defensively, you'll want to avoid the move that quickly follows 'Tentacle Grab' at all cost. If you can do that, while also using the awesome Magic Pocket to replenish HP & MP, this fight shouldn't be too hard at all.

Zale and Valere even say so after the fight. They just beat a Dweller with no eclipse! That alone proves they're way stronger than before. After the moon is restored, you'll be given the ability to fly! This allows you to travel much easier, while also accessing new areas on the map. One of those new area is THE final area, the Fleshmancer's Lair.

You can now access it whenever we'd like and if you go to save, you'll notice that we've reached a very important new chapter... 'The Fated Hour'. But before we do that, we must tie up loose ends and do side quests.

Join us next time for Chapter X - 'The Fated Side Quest' (title pending).
