So last time, we finished the game definitively and completely. Or did we? Sure, we got an ending. But it wasn't really a good and satisfying ending. Even the closing scene wasn't completely sure as the caption read 'The End?'. A monument in the Moorlands is then shown to activate and you're given the chance to go back to before the final battle. It is then suggested that you go an investigate this monument...

CHAPTER 49 - RECLAMATION

Only thing left to do is to get the proper ending, right? We're going to go over everything you need to do in order to get it. Right now, we're still in the Fleshmancer's Lair, in the summoning room located right before the final chamber. You can teleport to the entrance and leave. Before we head to the Moorlands in Home World, we'll zip over to Repine for one last thing.

In the weapons shop here, there's a locked door that requires a Cypher to open. In Serai's house on the left, near the entrance, you'll notice a decryption station is now active. You should have four Data Strips by now, the fourth being located in the Fleshmancer's Lair. Use these to make a Cypher and unlock the door. There are two treasures inside: a Cosmic Cape and Question Pack #9. Ok now we can head to the Moorlands.

The quickest way to the monument is through the southern entrance. When you get there, B'st will explain that Resh'an left this as a gift to us. As you'll notice, there are seven pillars that are currently lit up. It means we've already met all the conditions, but if you haven't, you'll need to do the following:

1 - Collect 60 Rainbow Conches
2 - Fully Rebuild Mirth
3 - Complete World Light Puzzles
4 - Complete all Solstice Shrines
5 - Complete the Coliseum
6 - Complete the Duke Aventry Side Quest
7 - Complete the Queen the Was Side Quest

If you've completed the game and gotten the regular ending AND also completed all seven requirements, you should be able to proceed. I hate to spoil this for anyone, so don't read on if you're not actually at this point in the game.

Ok... Basically Resh'an bookmarked the moment in time that Garl was killed. In another homage to Chrono Trigger, we're going back to this moment and will replace him with B'st (who can survive the hit, at least). Then we return to the present and get B'st out of Garl's grave. Creepy, but effective. Garl is back!

I'm not sure how it actually works out though, since the only reason we were able to meet B'st is due to the events that followed Garl's death. So I'm not sure if any gets undone, but oh well... Garl is back!

I believe at this point, you're free to just go to the Fleshmancer and beat the game to get the good ending. However, Garl mentions that he was allowed to make a wish once he was revived. His wish is to have dinner at the Golden Pelican, the fancy restaurant in Brisk.

In order to get all the relevant deets, you'll have to talk to Garl several times in the camping scene. Presumably, if you miss this part, he will probably still say it if you camp out again.

Anyway, when you talk to him a second time here, he will give you the 'Hook of Time'. Talk to him a third time and he mentions he thinks the item has something to do with this small island in the south. This is 'Stillpond Island', the island in the south with the fishing lake that is completely empty.

Head there and now you will notice an underwater object you can hook on to. Pull it to reveal a cave. Inside, there is another fishing lake with a glowing fish. The sign says to "catch" it, but we'll actually need to jump in and grab it. It's a key. It goes to keyhole located a little further up. This drains the water in the back section revealing another path. In this third room is yet another fishing lake with a mysterious moving shadow.

Hook and reel in this shadow to reveal 'Chef Bass', the founder and head chef of the Golden Pelican. Chef Bass grants Garl's request and gives him the 'Gilded Invitation' needed to enter. Go to Brisk and enter the Golden Pelican when you're ready.

You'll be treated to several scenes both for the dinner and the preparation. Everyone celebrates Garl and Garl celebrates everyone. But most importantly, at the end of the dinner...

Garl will learn the recipe for 'Legendary Feast'! The absolute best item in the game, which we'll definitely need. Because next time... Next time... we're going up against the Fleshmancer Aephorul himself!
