Sea of Stars - Ch. 46 - The Coliseum
Last side quest! Finally! Remember that main story? Well, we'll be getting back to that really soon. Last time, we covered Serai's side quest, where we ended up getting her best weapon, 'Star Shards'. This video covers B'st's side quest, where we'll be getting his best armor the 'Vitric Simulacrum'. Ok, let's do this...
CHAPTER 46 - THE COLISEUM
So we've gone around the campfire checking in with everyone. Everyone had something they wanted to do before the end of the game. Why should B'st be any different? Anyway, if you speak to B'st while you're camping out or staying at an inn, he'll tell you about the Coliseum.
The Coliseum was built in Brisk to replace the area that was destroyed when the Dweller of Strife was reborn. B'st really wants to prove himself as a warrior and asks if we can please go to participate in a tournament. But in order to satisfy B'st's bloodlust, you'll not only have to participate, but also win all four ranks (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Special).
The rules of the Coliseum are simple. B'st is only allowed two sidekicks to fight along side of him. Item use is not allowed at all. So I can't use my awesome strategy of cooking up a bunch of great items and using the Magic Pocket. It was actually a little difficult at first and I had a close call where I almost failed, but I was able to do it.
Each rank consists of three battles. Here's a breakdown:
Bronze Rank (B'st, Resh'an and Valere)
1. Clawless Crab Crew: Croube x2, Training Croube
2. Bomb Bouncing Brothers: Srower x3
3. GulGul Goof Group: GulGul, Lonzon x2
All three fights are ridiculously easy, it feels more like a novelty fight. If you need to heal, use Resh'an's 'Petrichor' move. When you win, you'll get a Sapphire Ore.
Silver Rank (B'st, Serai and Zale)
1. Prickly Pirate Party: Melee Matey, Ranged Matey x2
2. Fancy Fencing Force: Anointed, Revenant, Grassassin
3. Clockwork Abomination, (Summons Clockwork Zombies)
This round is slightly more challenging, as now you'll have to rely on Zale's 'Healing Light' move to heal. But it's still not too difficult. The third round is kind of like a boss fight. You just gotta stay on your toes. When you win, you'll get a Sapphire Ingot.
Gold Rank - (B'st, Valere and Zale)
1. Big Buggy and Bad Bunnies: BigBuggy, SlingRabbit x2
2. Basic Basement Batch: Mermofqizquard, Owlsassin, Scout, Shroomy Shroomy Knight
3. Sylgain, (Arena Champion)
In this round we'll have Valere and Zale together, so we can depend on the more versatile 'Mending Light' combo for healing. If possible, try to heal towards the end of the first round so you'll go into the second round fully healed.
The second round against the 'Basic Basement Batch' is quite possibly the hardest fight of the whole tournament. Don't let that guy in the crowd fool you when he yells "They have no healer!" These guys can be tough since there's four of them and some of them have attacks that hit everyone.
Try focusing on picking off either a Owlsassin or Scout first. I came very, very close to losing here. I was somehow able to hang in there long enough to do 'Mending Light' in this round, but I really should've done it at the end of the first round. Anyway, somehow I survive.
The third fight is against a guy named Sylgain. He's much easier than the second round as it's just one target. When you win, you'll receive the item 'Reaper's Mercy'.
Special Rank - (No Restrictions)
1. CROUSTALION!
Beating the Gold Rank unlocks the Special Rank. There is just one fight and it's against a sort of hermit crab called 'Croustalion'. The lead-in to the fight is pretty amusing, as everyone begins shouting his name. Croustalion is actually part of the background we've been admiring this whole time!
So for this round, we're free to swap characters at will. So even though Croustalion is tougher, we'll be able to fight at our (almost) strongest. Croustalion will summon two treasure chests. The one on the right will attack, while the one on the left will heal one monster randomly.
I didn't follow the usual strategy here and I probably should've. You should always focus first on taking out the healer. It does not appear as if the treasure chests regenerate if you beat them. So might as well take them out. Keep pummeling Croustalion and he'll be beat.
When you win, you'll get the 'Vitric Simulacrum', B'st's best armor.
