Sea of Stars - Ch. 48 - The End?
Ok, so the final dungeon isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Our party is a bit OP since we did all the side quests. It's possible that the game's true intent was for us to do these side quests after beating the game and getting the standard ending. But they were available, so how is that our fault?
Anyway, last time we entered the Fleshmancer's Lair and fought two of the remaining four bosses left in the game: LeJugg and Phase Reaper. Did you make sure to grab the Legendary Feast? It was after LeJugg, but before the Phase Reaper. After those two boss fights, we parked it in the rest area ahead. Now only the final chamber awaits...
CHAPTER 48 - THE END?
At the end of this chapter... you will see an ending to this game. It is an ending, but it's not the only ending. Nor is it considered the 'good' ending. However, one of the conditions for obtaining this good ending is first getting the regular ending. So we must do that. Once you've rested, equipped and cooked up all the stuff you need for battle... head to the final chamber.
The Fleshmancer, 'Aephorul' is indeed here, however he does not wish to fight you. Instead, he will send his strongest lieutenant 'Elysan'Darelle', whom we knew as Erlina. It's interesting that we do not see what Burgraves turns into, although Soul Curator does seemingly reference him.
Boss Battle - Elysan'Darelle
This is our final boss battle. Erlina has been transformed into some sort of weird centaur with a tail that looks like the Pokemon 'Mawile'. You'll fight for a couple of rounds before she falls and seemingly transforms again into a Dweller-type creature. She looks vaguely similar to Queen Zeal. This is when the real battle begins.
She has several moves:
Telekinesis Crash: This is before she transforms. She'll raise up two party members and crash them into each other. This will still only deal around 20 damage to each party member.
The Pyramid: She uses those five levitating bits we've seen her use before to engulf the party in a pyramid of fire. This will rotate a bit and hurt everyone for around 50 damage each or so.
Arcane Symbol: This is really her basic attack. She will draw fire symbols in the air and then shoot them at a party member. This will deal around 40 damage just to that one party member.
Crystal Touch: If she pulls it off, you have one turn to try and break a crystal. If you can't (and it can be hard to depending on the locks), she will shatter the crystal and kill whoever is inside it.
Arcane Symbole (Powered Up): These are powered-up arcane symbols. These ones are much larger and will hit a party member three times... but note, the symbols can also move between party members and hit multiple people this time. You can expect around 70 damage if it all hits one person, or split damage between party members.
Life Leech: She'll attack the entire party and deal around 20-30 damage to everyone, and heal herself afterwards for around 40 HP.
So although she has a lot of attacks, as you can see in the video, I avoid a couple of them completely. She's definitely tougher than LeJugg or the Phase Reaper, but she's not a tough boss at all.
After the battle ends, your Resh'an puppet will disappear because the genuine article is about to join us. Resh'an will appear and tell Aephorul to give up and leave, declaring the Solstice Warriors have won. The Fleshmancer strangely agrees, but warns a bigger threat is on the way.
Zale and Valere feel something coming from very far away: a World Eater! Aephorul and Resh'an leave, thus our heroes have won! After some brief goodbyes, Zale and Valere fly off to fight one last foe, the World Eater itself.
Boss Battle - World Eater
I'm not sure if you can lose this battle or not, but you seem to have lots of HP. Anyway, this is not your typical battle. This final battle will take place in the style of an old school arcade shooter like 'Gradius'. The World Eater's HP bar will wear down as you pummel it with shots. Pay attention to the bottom right-hand corner as it will inform you of any power-ups or additional controls you can use. When the World Eater is defeated, you will now see the game's regular ending.
THE END?
After the credits, you'll see a scene that indicates a long time skip has occurred. An Elder is telling the story of the two Solstice Warriors that ascended and saved the world long ago. The children listening thank her and call her Teaks. Teaks and the Artificer go to the Ancient Crypt to admire a completed new addition. After making some comments about a flood and a window, the camera pans over to some sort of monument while the words 'The End?' appears in the bottom right-hand side.
Afterwards, a scene in the Moorlands shows one of the mysterious ancient monuments suddenly activating. You're now allowed to go back to before the final boss fight and save. The game recommends that you go to the Moorlands and check this monument out.
