This is actually the first time I've gotten this far. Yeah, I actually reached the end of the game before, specifically the "talon brain" part, and I quit there for some random reason. It's been like 15 years since then, and it's high time I finally take down Xagor once and for all. Right after I take a moment to enjoy the final dungeon theme.

Gotta say, though, Xagor was kinda disappointing. I've seen battles against him on Youtube before, and everyone always made him look easy. As it turns out, it's because he is. With everyone bashing him with their legendary weapons, and everyone decked out with CureB, his only real offensive is this attack that takes a party member out in a single hit. But then all I need to do is cast LifeB, and we're back at full strength again. And here I thought I was going in underleveled. If I ever play this game again (and I'm sure I will), I'll have to handicap myself by not giving everyone the best healing spells.

Also, the ending is longer than I expected. You know how I've been using the sunset stage of the border animation for the past several videos? It's because I expected the ending to be so short, that it'd only give enough time for the border to go back to day. Instead, the ending was long enough for several days to pass! But that's partly on account I wasn't allowed to speed up the text. =P Not a bad ending, though.

So, what can I say about this game overall? The story was barely there, but I guess I can't expect much from one of the first Game Boy RPGs. Considering Sol was supposed to be the guy who would save the world, he sure did need saving, himself. What I really like about this game, though, is the transformations. Sometime I'll have to play through the game with a guide just to see what awesome forms I missed out on. And finally, the fact that status effects were so dang useful is awesome. Not a bad game. Not great, but it was probably the best handheld RPG until Pokemon hit the scene. Definately glad it followed a traditional level-up system, rather than the mess that was the first two FFL games.
