Sherlock Holmes: TDD - glitches and observations pt. 2
Some more glitchy results from various tests in Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter.
0:00 - managed to stuck inside a small nook of collision while playing as Toby the dog.
0:18 - I got a strange softlock once during the Albeit's House set piece. Normally Holmes is shot by an arrow if you fail to cover him with Watson. However, this time around - perhaps because Holmes was safely tucked behind the boxes - the arrow that was shot never reached him. This simply caused an unwinnable paradox.
0:54 - invisible Sherlock Holmes. I could get this result to happen semi-consistently while starting the case Infamy, but I still don't know exactly what caused it.
I think this glitch is simply that you activate first-person view right between loading time or cutscenes, although there's no immediate feedback to let you know the glitch has started since Holmes is only invisible during regular gameplay. My theory is that for some reason the FPV activates only partially, making Holmes invisible but leaving the camera at third-person view.
The glitch becomes fixed rather easily - if you just toggle FPV normally, or use some prompt which toggles FPV for you. In this instance I accidentally fixed the glitch at the bomb defusing set piece - otherwise I would've continued playing the case for even longer in this state.
3:11 - a small mechanics oddity. If you press L3 + R3 and Pause at same time (on PS4), you activate both info and Pause-menus simultaneously. You first see the info screen as normal, and after closing it the Pause-menu opens without any content while you still see the info screen visuals. And that seems to be it.
3:27 - I tested what happens if you open Deduction-menu repeatedly while you run into a fade-out cutscene. (The cutscene in question was the "talk to Olivia at the balcony" cutscene in the case A Study in Green.) The menu worked like normal, and after closing it I got a visual bug where parts of the level weren't drawn during most of the cutscene.
(Not on the vid: if you solve the case from the Deduction-menu after having ran into the cutscene, the game just loads the ending and this doesn't result in any glitches.)
(Not on the vid: opening Casebook is also possible, but game closes it automatically as the cutscene begins.)
4:33 - I also tested what happens if you activate Wardrobe while running into the same cutscene. An endless black screen...
