Ah yes, that so-called “December,” always a pain for those of us who want to relax instead of worrying about silly things like society. Kiki is completely right, of course, she worked extremely hard for NanashiFes and very much deserves a nice relaxing end of the year. Nobody should be allowed to interfere with that.

0:45 Here she starts to mispronounce “nenmatsu” (end of the year) as “nenmetsu” but stops herself halfway through.
0:51 She misreads this comment and combines “hifugan” (skin cancer) and “hahen” (fragments) into the nonsense word “hifuen,” which I’ve subbed as “skin fragments.”
1:05 The comment she reads says “purezento o kodomo ni todokeru” (deliver presents to children), but she misreads it as “purezento ni kodomo o todokeru” (deliver children as presents). What she does is switch the particles “o” (the direct object particle) and “ni” (a directional particle) around, so the children become the direct object the verb applies to (so the things being delivered) and therefore context dictates that “ni” changes its meaning so that instead of being delivered ‘to’ presents, they’re delivered ‘as’ (in the role of) presents. If this sounds complicated and confusing that’s because it is and “I don’t understand anything anymore because of the particles” is a universal feeling for anyone learning Japanese all the time and even native speakers like Kiki from time to time.

I searched Riichu-sensei’s twitter for it but nothing came up and since Kiki doesn’t know what it means either I’m not going to worry about it too much. (inb4 it’s beyblades again)
