9Sonic first couple of non SEGA platform games are now 20 years old, which may be making some of you wonder where the time has gone. Developed by Sonic Team & Dimps, the Sonic Advance games really were a great addition to the 2D Sonic games and remain excellent follow ups to the original SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis games. That perfectly fits the Nintendo handheld console.
Everything for an excellent Sonic game is here from speedy gameplay, platform action, special stages & chaos emeralds. Featuring four playable characters, Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna & Amy Rose. The aim of the game as always is to defeat Dr. Ivo Robotnik "Eggman", but this time around the gameplay has been tailored for the GBA. Bright and boLd colours give the visuals a clean and defined look.
New zones include Neo Green Hill Zone, Secret Base Zone, Casino Paradise Zone and Ice Mountain Zone. A couple have more than a passing resemblance to zones from previous games, including a rather different looking Angel Island Zone from Sonic 3. The soundtrack is superb for the system and the feel of Sonic. there's not much to say against it other than the fact the game was rather easy to finish.

Sonic Advance was released on Game Boy Advance, the only digital release is on the Japanese Virtual Console. A version known as SonicN was released on the N-Gage and it was also ported to Android phones.
