Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time - Arcade Intro & Michelangelo Playthrough [4K]
Full gameplay, longplay, playthrough, walkthrough and guide of the arcade version of Turtles in Time as Michelangelo. In this case we used the European version known as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles as the word "Ninja" was deemed too violent for a kids show in the 80/90s. These days none of that silliness happens any more. Now with the awesome news the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is arriving later this year with all the Arcade, NES, Game Boy, SNES and Mega Drive / Genesis games included.
We decided now is the time to revisit the arcade version, before it releases again. To date the arcade version hasn't been released unedited. The SNES version was a heavily reworked games with new stages and bosses. While the version included on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare had a changed soundtrack and other edits to the game. Finally we have fully covered the Turtles in Time Re-Shelled remake previously, which was somewhat of a let down compared to the original.
Turtles in Time was a great follow up to the original arcade game, while not quite as good, the stages didn't flow that well together and being sent back in time on the sewer stage was rather odd. A lot of this was improved in the excellent SNES version, which added the Technodrome stage and new bosses.
As the name suggests the game sees the turtles travelling through time, battling Shredder and Krang yet again, other bosses from the cartoon and films include Baxter Stockman (Fly form), Metalhead, Tokka & Rahzar, Cement Man and Leatherhead. Fan favourites Bebop & Rocksteady along with the Rat King wouldn't appear until the SNES version. Splinter and April O'Neil appear as supporting roles and pop up in the intro as well.
Graphically the game was quite an improvement over the original arcade game, combat wise the game saw the turtles get a couple of new moves like the elbow charge and slide attack. Finally their another classic soundtrack to go with it, all in all it's more of the same which is what turtles fans in the 90s wanted. However, the arcade game seemed to have been overshadowed by Konami's own The Simpsons arcade as both released in 1991. While Simpsons was extremely common Turtles in Time was hard to find in arcades and more people likely played the SNES version. While the emulation isn't 100% on MAME it's very close to the original hardware these days.
