Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! - Game Boy Advance - Boxing Gameplay, Three Matches [4K60]
Three matches from the tournament mode of this superb GBA boxing game from legendary developer Treasure Video Games. Based on the Anime version of the Manga of the same name Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! is one of a number of games based on the franchise. With Treasure the developer behind it, you know this will have something special in it.
As far as versus fighting games go this is one of the best on the system. The game plays similar to Nintendo's Punch Out in style, but has a long of it's own ideas. You have a selection of moves, combos and super attacks to throw at your opponent. You can also guard attacks, but your guard starts to break and your gloves turn red if you guard too many without punching back. Range also plays a part as you can move back and forward in the ring, but this doesn't work that well. Some boxers also have vastly better range than others.
There's a lack of boxing arena in the game with the only two backgrounds being the same Gym and Ring, not even a palette swap is available. It includes a Story, Tournament, Versus, Training and Custom mode, where you upgrade your characters with points earned from Story and Tournament. While licensed games can be very hit and miss, this one is very enjoyable.
This is our first video successfully captured using x3 mode on the OSSC on the GBA.
