Here we are at long last! After another lengthy hiatus, I present a return to Centralfiction as the focus, with this time around, taking Rachel and her potential to a much more well-deserved spin (haha) than before showcased.
The idea of having a video of Rachel specifically made came to me after picking her up for general gameplay and noticing that, other than practical and BnB combo videos, no "neta" combo videos exist for Rachel yet (surprisingly, considering she can do incredibly wack stuff with her wind!), so I decided I shall get the flag flying in this regard, and this is the result!
Note that, for all intents and purposes, this is still mainly a Rachel combo video : the addition of Carl and Celica is mainly because I have found things with them that I definitely wanted to showcase (Carl's combo into Rhapsody into Vivace spam, and Celica's extremely weird interaction against Tager's magnetism when doing 6D), but there was so little in this regard that making a whole video just for those would have been pointless, so I decided to put them in here instead, also adding some variety as a result. Two birds with one stone!
For players who are unaware, the combo versus Jin is not a glitch or done via cheating : every time Rachel's j.2C (drill) hits the opponent while travelling downward at a high enough speed, the attack will become a guaranteed Fatal Counter, even mid-combo (without an actual counter-hit!), hence why I was able to combo 5 Fatals this way (1 from the starting 5C, then 3 j.2Cs with well timed wind and airdashes, then a final j.2C after Baden-Baden Lily).
Speaking of j.2C, its fastest version can be combo'd into from BBL anywhere on the screen (essentially allowing you to turn any combo into a Fatal combo), but since the opponent will fly high up, quite a lot of combo time will be wasted this way. Also, off short starters (like a throw), the combo timer won't actually be lengthened, rendering any benefit from this "mid-combo fatal" pretty minimal.
Other than that, all of these combos pretty much boiled down to experimenting with untech times and proper usage of wind. Unlike most characters, for whom a bit of delay or hitting moves early does not matter mid-combo, Rachel's wind can and will affect characters differently even if your timing is just a bit off, which may drop your combo, or lead to something entirely new! She definitely has one of the best combo games overall in CF, but takes quite some time and LOTS of experimentation to get a hold of.
The rest should be pretty self-explanatory. There's also plenty of interesting tech to showcase still (like blowing a B lobelia back towards the opponent after a j.2C (level 2) via wind, causing them to fall towards you), so this definitely won't be the last of Rachel.
