After stopping Croco and getting back Mallow's stolen item, Mario returns back to the Mushroom Kingdom to find it invaded by Shy Guys, or Shymores as they work for Claymorton. Mario then helps out the Toads, and then goes into Peach's Castle to stop Claymorton and get their first Star Piece.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Back to the Mushroom Kingdom, and it is taken over by Shy Guys on Pogo Sticks, these kinds are called Shymores, as in Shy Guy and claymore, a type of sword, and the pogo stick like thing is actually a vehicle called the Shyhopper, and they work for the Smithy Gang. I like the music that plays during the invasion, it is also the theme song for the Smithy Gang, it is called The Weapons Show Up. Shymores were originally called Shysters, and they can use Hot Shot, originally known as Drain, to shoot a fireball to deal damage.
You can enter the shop, and while the shopkeeper isn't available, we can buy items as long as leave money on the counter, you can sell the wallet we got back from Croco, but you will want to return it to its owner for a Flower Tab, you can enter houses and drive off the Shymores.
You can see an endless group of Shymores exit Peach's Castle, when you enter, you can go to the vault for the second time to get a Mushroom, Flower, and Coins, and you can help Toad out in getting past some Shymores on the way to the princess's bedroom, you can talk to her Granny to heal up.
Then we have to find the Chancellor, and in that room is the big boss of the Shymores, this is Claymorton, in the original game, his name was Mack, named after the song Mack the Knife, don't know if it is copyright issues that resulted in the name change to Claymorton, but anyway, he has four Bodyguards, just normal Shymores, but they do have different discriptions if you use Mallow's Thought Peek, and like with Croco when you force him to skip a turn with fire, if you use Mallow's Thunderbolt, you can stun Claymorton for a turn, and Thunderbolt can help defeat the Bodyguards. Claymorton can use Flame Wall, which hits all targets and cannot be blocked, and he has Flame to hit one target with fire, and if the Bodyguards are not defeated, Claymorton will disappear and not come back until all the Bodyguards are defeated, and after a few turns, Claymorton can summon four more Bodyguards. This fight isn't too hard as you will mostly by using Mallow's Thunderbolt.
There was a glitch in the original game where you can skip the encounter with Claymorton, or Mack as he was called back then, where you have to jump over a Bodyguard to the Chancellor, they will not see Mario, and when you talk to the Chancellor, Claymorton and the Bodyguards disappear, and you can get the first Star Piece, but it won't show until you get the second Star Piece, and this was fixed in the remake. They did add a cutscene whenever Mario obtains a Star Piece, and talk to the Chancellor, and we learn that our next destination is Kero Sewers. We can no longer go to the vault, but in this remake, they did add a Toad you can use to reach the hidden treasure that has the Frog Coin, which means that collectable is no longer missable.
After saving the Mushroom Kingdom, the one thing you can do is visit the shop, and you can obtain a Cricket Pie in exchange for Mallow's Frog Coin, and we will need that when we visit his grandpa at Tadpole Pond, while the Cricket Pie is optional, you will need it at some point in the game.
