The next character I use in Classic Mode is Toon Link, and he did get some improvements in this game between that and Brawl, his Hookshot has improved, and there are some things that I like about using Toon Link compared to Ultimate, and that is his forward smash, because in this game, Toon Link attacks twice with his forward smash, but in Ultimate, the move doesn't have a second hit, I guess this was to make him different between him and Link.
Despite Toon Link being a late addition in Super Smash Bros. Brawl where he is one of the last characters unlocked, but in this game, he is available on the starting roster, I do not like the starting roster in this game and its 3DS counterpart, because that is a lot of characters you start out with, and the starting roster for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is almost more than the full roster in Brawl, and specially when you have characters like Luigi, Marth, Lucario, and Toon Link where they were unlockable characters in every Smash Bros. game, and in this one they are available from the start.
Going over Classic Mode, in Rounds 1 to 3, you fight against characters in their default costume, in Rounds 4 and 5, you fight characters that use their alternate costumes, in Round 6, you fight against the Fighting Mii Team, and in the final round, you fight Master Hand, or on a higher Intensity, you fight Crazy Hand as well, or even against Master Core if on an even higher Intensity.
I could go over Toon Link's custom moves in the description, and while does have similar moves to Link, the difference is Toon Link is lighter and faster, which is an advantage he has over Link. Starting with Hero's Bow, the difference is Toon Link's arrows are weaker and slower, but they fly in the air for longer than Link's. For the custom variants of Hero's Bow, the first one is Fire Arrow, which is identical to Young Link's neutral special, the difference is it charges immediately, and the ground sets on fire when the arrow lands, it has less range, so it does kind of act like Ness's PK Fire. The other variant of Hero's Bow is Piercing Arrow, where Toon Link fires an arrow that fly straight through opponents, but it deals less damage and it has less distance. Then his side special Boomerang, the first custom variant is Floating Boomerang, where Toon Link throws a boomerang that flies slower, and it returns to Toon Link easily, and the second variant is High-Speed Boomerang, where the boomerang flies faster and passes through multiple opponents, but it deals less damage than normal. Then for Toon Link's Spin Attack, the difference is Toon Link's hits multiple times before launching the opponent when used on the ground, much like Young Link's Spin Attack in Melee, and for that move's custom variants, the first one is Sliding Spin Attack, which has more charge time, and it deals more damage, and when used, Toon Link slides forward while spinning, and he moves more horizontally when used in the air, and the second variant is Flying Spin Attack, where after the spin attack ends, Toon Link finishes it off with an upwards slash that sends him and his opponent into the air. Then for his down special, Bomb, which deals less damage than Link's Bomb, but it has a larger explosion. The first custom variant is Time Bomb, which does not explode when it makes contact, it deals less damage, but it does have a high launching power, and the second custom variant is Short-Fuse Bomb, where the explosion is larger and deals more damage than usual and launches foes upwards, but the downside is the bomb has a shorter time before exploding.
