As with continue with the Kid Icarus representatives, Palutena is the next character I use for Classic Mode, and while she get some improvements in Ultimate, and she is a lower-tier character in this game, she is at least decent. Her up smash is one of her best moves, and her special moves are very unique, I will go more into them when going over custom special moves.
Going over Classic Mode, in Rounds 1 to 3, you fight against characters that use their default costumes, in Rounds 4 and 5, you fight characters that use their alternate costumes, in Round 6, your opponents are the Fighting Mii Team, and at the end, you fight Master Hand, or on a higher difficulty, you fight Crazy Hand as well, or on an even higher Intensity, you fight against Master Core.
The moment you have been waiting for, and that is Palutena's custom special moves, this is the only game in the Smash Bros. series to have custom moves, and all of Palutena's custom special moves are unique, they are not variants of one another, take Mario for example, for his Fireball, Mario throws a smaller and faster fireball, or a larger fireball that moves slower. Palutena's neutral special is Autoreticle, where she locks onto an opponent and fires energy blasts from her staff in front of her, I don't know whether to call them variants if her custom special moves are completely different moves, but anyway, the first custom move is Explosive Flame, this move would be Palutena's side special in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, she creates a blast in front of her that can hit opponents multiple times, much like the Smart Bomb, and the second custom move is Heavenly Light, where she is surrounded in rays of light which damage opponents, it does not cause flinching or knockback, and it can be absorbed by Ness's PSI Magnet. Palutena's side special is Reflect Barrier, where she puts up a wall that reflects projectiles and pushes away opponents, the first custom move for her side special is Angelic Missile, which is like Luigi's Green Missile, Palutena launches herself at opponents to send them flying, and her second custom move for her side special is Super Speed, where Palutena dashes into opponents, and she can jump and attack while dashing, and with Super Speed, Palutena can even outrun Sonic. Then for her up special, Warp, where she can teleport in any direction, much like Mewtwo's Teleport, the first custom move for her up special is Jump Glide, where Palutena jumps in the air to glide around, much like Peach or Mr. Game & Watch when they use their up specials, and she can move faster by pressing left or right, and the second custom move is Rocket Jump, where Palutena launches herself upward, and the explosion damages opponents. Her down special is Counter, this is considered to be the worse counterattack in the game, but it did get improved in Ultimate where Reflect Barrier is combined with that when she counters a projectile move. The first custom move for her down special is Lightweight, when used, it boosts Palutena's movement speed and jump height, making it one of her best custom moves, this does give Palutena the third highest jump in the game behind Greninja and Falco, and the second fastest dash speed behind Sonic, the downside is she takes more damage while Lightweight is active. The second custom move for her down special is Celestial Firework, where she shoots fireworks which explode on any opponents above her.
Palutena is the only playable character, not counting Mii Fighters, to have completely unique custom special moves, while Mega Man does have some unique custom moves, most of them are variants of his custom moves, and her custom moves are available from the start of the game, while all other characters' custom moves are unlockable. There is unused data where Kirby can use Explosive Flame or Heavenly Light, depending on which custom neutral special Palutena has, but in this game, Kirby can only use Autoreticle.
