#SuperOldGameSaturday - Mystical Ninja starring Goemon (Nintendo 64) - Finale

After 2 years of our play of Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon sitting unfinished here on #SuperOldGameSaturday, I've fulfilled one of my New Year's resolutions for 2023 with the finale of this flawed, but underrated and infectious 1998 Nintendo 64 debut of Konami's Gambare Goemon franchise. So join us as we travel through the remaining castles to find the last Miracle Item, run into Goemon Impact again, and finally meet up with Spring Breeze Dancin' and Kitty Lilly in person to save Japan from their evil scheme, not to mention getting all of the Silver and Gold Fortune Dolls for the first time in my life. As such, our play of this game is completed now to 100% with the reward you get for doing so on full display here and also, as you can probably tell from my intro on this part, we had a full discussion of The Legend of the Mystical Ninja anime that was mentioned last time, which I binged all 23 episodes of in preparation for this show. It really helped me understand my fascination and fandom of this enterprise (as well as one of the aspects that this US release of this game censored), while also giving myself and the best chat on Twitch a good reason to go deep into anime discussion, along with everything else we had on this game, including its vivid color palate and art direction, transporting Japanese atmosphere and, of course, its terrific music with a couple of vocalized songs for good measure. It also gave us one last chance to put out the desire for a modern re-release, remake or remaster of this game, while also pausing to reflect on recent cases where returns to Japanese gems of yesterday weren't exactly happy ones and giving an idea to companies on what not to do in cases like this.
