#SuperOldGameSaturday - Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (Super Nintendo)
Originally Recorded/Aired on February 4th, 2023
It's no secret that I love the Donkey Kong Country series and have relished in every opportunity to play them for #SuperOldGameSaturday, but I'm not the only one, as ElecVerse, a frequent guest/collaborator in the best chat on Twitch, requested we play his favorite entry in the Super Nintendo trilogy, 1996's Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble and, since it's "ask and you shall receive" on this show, we did. For this play, we used the original Super Nintendo version and played this one to 105%, which required entering the TUFST code to remove all of the Continue barrels and DK barrels from the game, thus turning this into the hardest run of the trilogy, but one of the most rewarding. Along the way, ElecVerse, GemiKnight96, DollyFinn and the rest of the chat dove deep into this final 16-bit game of developer Rareware with me as we went through our memories of the series, this game, other games of Rare's, the artistry, great music and risks that makes this stand out from its already great predecessors and much more, as we found every Bonus level, DK coin, Banana Bird and item in this marathon play. As has always been the case, the chat in what's become our weekly gaming town hall had many great insights that we all learned from, while I showed the challenges of a completionist run of this game (and what makes us want to go that deep into such games, including the next game in the DK line-up, Donkey Kong 64) and we got to celebrate the most underrated DKC title to its fullest, as well as talking about our future shows and also, some extra practice run shows we'll be doing in the future (the first being on Friday, February 17th, at 9 PM EST). Again, I thank ElecVerse for this viewer request, as well as all of you watching in the chat and here on YouTube for making another great classic gaming experience and I hope you all enjoy our play of Donkey Kong Country 3 (and if you like what you see here, stop by https://www.twitch.tv/captainditrag, usually on Saturday at 7 PM EST, to see these streams live and join/help drive the conversations on what we play each week)!
