After almost 2 years, we're back to Namco's Katamari Damacy series here on #SuperOldGameSaturday, although not exactly the way that was originally planned, for better and worse. You see, Nocturne was going to be joining me for our play of 2005's We Love Katamari for the PlayStation 2, but due to COVID, she was only able to be in the chat for this play, but in the strangest of occurrences, RIGHT as I got the text from her saying that we'd have to change our plans on this play, a remake of this game was announced in last week's Nintendo Direct presentation. So, this ended up being a very timely look at We Love Katamari's original release in preparation of its remake, called We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie, which is out on June 2nd. So, for this one, we had another great time rolling up everything in our path as the Prince and Cousins of All Cosmos as we granted the wishes of the world who, after the original game, now know what Katamari Damacy is and ask us to use it to answer their prayers. In between, the King of All Cosmos gets some backstory on why he's as, depending on your outlook or perhaps cultural perspective, domineering and/or emotionally abusive to his son (which the remake will add new missions for, which we'll look at in a future show), while Nocturne, the chat and I went into our thoughts on this game, the series and every announcement out of the Nintendo Direct from last week, which was a treasure-trove for the perspective of our weekly retro game show here. Also, we celebrated the great music and atmosphere of this game, which had some insights from myself that I don't think anyone else has brought up, so this is another unique play of another quirky game that's held up quite nicely over the years. I once again thank Nocturne for adding to the show as she did and for her flexibility and understanding, but she'll be back on the show for real (barring any similar circumstances) on April 8th as she starts Mega Man Legends 2 for the PlayStation. Until then (and until we play We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie, which Nocturne will also be a part of), hope you enjoy our play of We Love Katamari (and if you like what you see here, stop by https://www.twitch.tv/captainditrag, usually Saturdays at 7 PM EST, to see these streams live and join the conversations on what we play each week, and check out our test play show for Game Dev Tycoon this Friday, February 17th at 9 PM EST)!

Finally, here's the Link List, which includes links for everything that I and chat discussed on this show:
