This is an explanation and demonstration of some custom sprites included with Tessera, my Sprite Tool. I meant to get this out quite a while ago, but whatever. Better late than never. The main feature of Tessera is the ability to use up to four "extra bytes" to determine how a sprite will behave...and there are plenty of examples! Every sprite in thie video except one uses at least one extra byte, so the behaviors shown here are only a small sampling of the possibilities. Tessera is a bit more advanced than the other Sprite Tools, but the basic premises are the same, and it has a lot more functionality. It can be downloaded from SMW Central, and as of right now, the latest version is 0.51.
