Searching for the blade took some time so I meditated. As the days pass on I can feel the day coming closer. I must prepare myself to face Dagoth Ur. I have become skilled in many weaponry and have found countless treasures that will aid me in this destined confrontation. For now I made it to the cave and encountered the owner of the blade: Draramu Hloran. She could summon Greater Bonewalkers and I must admit, they frighten me, but I mustered up the courage to go blades swinging and won the encounter.
The prize is a Breton blade. A blade so powerful that not only is it physically amazing, but it can also provide incredible defensive magic for its wielder. It is a shame that such a sword will not stay in my possession for long. I returned to Varus and gave him the blade. With the Lord's Mail and Chrysamere in his possession, he will be quite powerful. I asked for a promotion and he told me there's none left unless I wanted his position. I did fancy the idea of leading Vvardenfell's Imperial Legion. My father held a high position in Cyrodiil before he passed away so it's be nice to follow in his footsteps.
Unfortunately, rather than go through the paperwork, Varus decided that the title would be earned through a duel to the death. He seems too proud to give up the title willingly and would rather perish if I take the title. So I met him in the Vivec Arena and slew him. This way I take his title and I get back these artifacts! An excellent victory. With that done I kept to my word and sought out the shrine of Azura, wondering if there was anything else I could do to prepare for the battle against Dagoth.
I summoned Azura at her shrine but to my surprise, she had a different task for me: protect her priestesses. Seemingly the Daedra are a bored bunch and occasionally wager petty bets against each other. Perhaps it is not in my place to judge them but it does feel odd that greater beings than I are engaged in seemingly simple mortal activities rather than maintaining their office or followers. So I left for the long journey of attempting to save this poor priestess from being killed by a bunch of daedra. I made it to the isle and slew all the daedra there and obtained a signet ring to demonstrate that I have mettled in the affairs of this wager between gods. My journey back will not be so exciting...
