The KO #50 - Sahad Asran Ryuto avoids awkwardness in PS1 Gouketsuji Ichizoku 2
Gouketsuji Ichizoku 2, on PS1--this is the intentionally weird fighting game series known as "Power Instinct" in English--turns out to be an awkward game to record, because one of the characters you may come up against is Kintaro, a kid clothed only in a short smock, which leaves nothing to the imagination when he kicks high or falls down.
Fortunately I did not run into Kintaro in this attempt with Middle Eastern dude Sahad Asran Ryuto, who is actually kind of cool.
Gameplay-wise, GI2 is pretty much just like the quite a bit later Shin GI: Bonnou Kaihou that I just played ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TrC2EM_HS0 ): KOF-style buttons, involuntary energy burst when charged up, transformations, grannies throwing dentures, etc. The emphasis on wild, in-stage band-played music is still there, and the weird sense of humor--honking sounds, weird graffiti faces on the faces of defeated opponents, all-around wackiness--is pretty much the same...some of which is maybe a little unfortunate. ; )
Time stamps:
0:13 - game intro movie 1
0:45 - main menu
0:51 - Options
1:02 - character select screen
2:27 - Kurara Hananokouji's transformation -- as seen in the intro movie
7:15 - secret plan?!?
12:56 - Sahad mirror match -- I just think is stage is really nice ...maybe aside from some of the music
22:50 - game over movie / intro video 2? (another time I saw it play the first one instead)
Recorded with: PS2 to Framemeister to Elgato HD60.
