Going from one of my favorite Iwad maps, to one of my least favorite. I don't know what happened to Milo between the making of Tombstone to this, but I can't imagine it being designed by someone who wasn't pissed off. There is absolutely nothing enjoyable about The Final Frontier. Every monster is a chore to kill. The map is ugly and oversized. Every death feels cheap. Even the secrets are hazards. My 2nd attempt was an absolutely perfect run, but I missed one secret because a linedef didn't trigger. Then I finally got this one 60 attempts later than I am not satisfied with, but couldn't stand to play the map any longer. Firing rockets and plasma at far away enemies takes up most of the time in the map. The rest of the map, is some of the worst platforming ever, paired with a bunch of inconvenient and forgettable secrets. The worst sin of all is the invuln, which is the worst placed invuln I can think of from any map. Almost every one of those 60 attempts failed at some point on those curved pillar stairs, they are the bane of my existence. The other secret below those stairs, is the second greatest sin. I seem to almost always skip the linedef that triggers the secret, or I just jump right into the teleporter and miss both the trigger and the items. That jump I got better at over time though, what actually infuriated me the most are the chaingunners at the beginning. That is absolutely horrible placement. Those windows are so inconsistent and frustrating to fire into. Sometimes I can kill all 6 with 2 rockets, and sometimes I waste like 10 rockets because its a complete gamble if splash damage registers when it hits the front. I could say much more, but I just want to be done with this shit map. Worst map in Plutonia easily, even worse than Onslaught.
