13We're back with some more Mega Man Maker, and today we have a level by Gear Boy / Gear Man / Flower Man!
This is a pretty tricky stage we're about to get into here, hahah. I can't complain about some difficulty though though, it warned me right in the title to pack it up if I wasn't down for a challenge!
The level itself is absolutely gorgeous, and sticks to it's theme really well while not getting stale. There's enough variety to keep it interesting, but not so much that it feels like a soup of different concepts. I point this out specifically because its something I always struggle with... either I have one theme done to death, or a thousand themes. Hitting that sweet spot where it feels cohesive but also interesting is hard to do. and this level is a great example of that.
I think the only thing I would have changed with this was the checkpoint placement. That first walk back was quite a hike, which did accomplish the goal of making the jumps feel really important and stressful, but it ended up being frustrating for me after having to do it about ten times. I would have preferred if the checkpoint was right after that room with the spikes and the necessary low jumps. That's not to say that would be the right decision for everyone, because there's not really a right or wrong when it comes to difficulty and someone else might not find those jumps as hard as I did.
All in all this was a fun and memorable level with some interesting setups and great visuals. Thanks for sending it in Gear Boy, and thank you all for watching! :)
