Thoughts on Battlefield 2042 - A lot on the line
00:21 what I am aware of, 00:54 recap of past recordings, 1:29 Specialist system, 3:11 Youtube videos I listen to, 4:34 the guns, 6:06 what a marksman rifle is, 8:16 LMG’s, 8:57 M27 example, 10:12 special forces, 11:16 Grom example, 12:28 Unit 234 example, 15:45 Italian military example, 18:30 tired of Russian weaponry in games, 19:45 performance issue, 21:18 a lot on the line, 22:49 important for the gaming eco system, 24:10 scary scenario 1, 24:57 scary scenario 2, 25:46 summary, 26:43 Proton
I did my best to cover my thoughts on the game and mentioned a few places I have been watching videos
TLDR:
I didn't like the Specialist system because it made it too confusing for me when everyone had the same character. I gave an example of what I thought would of been ok which would of been specialist perks based on levels
The only marksman rifle I saw in the Beta seemed like it was an AR on single fire instead of full auto. I went in to a tangent about how these weapons are used IRL because I feel like games can be educational without being 100% realistic
This tangent went into three examples. I talked about Poland's and Israel's special force units in relation to the educational part and the specialist level system I mentioned
I talked about how the Italian military doesn't use attack helicopters to further these examples. They have a unique vehicle called the Centauro
I returned to the topic of Battlefield by saying that I am so tired of seeing Russian weapons in shooters. I get they are iconic but cmon but something new in for once
I agree the performance issues were a bit too much. Imo the game was an alpha not a beta
I talked about what was on the line. Battlefield players have been waiting years for a good Battlefield. I also discussed how it is releasing after the Easy Anti Cheat change
If Battlefield does enable Easy Anti Cheat for Linux, it will mark a major turning point in the video game industry. People and company support for Linux has grown over the years but it isn't Windows level yet
I talked about how this is important for the eco system even if you don't care about Linux. It is because Microsoft has the greed, the money, and the property to create a gaming monopoly
Battlefield has the potential to break the camel's back and give Microsoft a wakeup call
