Black Ops 4 is the most controversial Treyarch Zombies game. Here’s five things it did wrong.

#5: The Black Ops Pass is Activision’s greed at its worst. Forcing players to either buy all or none of the DLC made every DLC map less accessible, and was anti-consumer in every possible way.

#4: Black Ops 4 has major balance and gameplay issues. The weapon sandbox has limited viable options, many enemies were and still are unbalanced, and the game only gave the player three hits maximum at launch instead of four just to name a few.

#3: Black Ops 4 was busted at launch. The amount of crashes as well as major and minor glitches ruined this game for a lot of people.

#2: Black Ops 4’s map quality was never consistent throughout its lifespan. The game has a few maps that are often considered top ten maps of all time, and at the same time has more than a few maps that the broader community considers some of the worst maps of all time. Combined with the Black Ops Pass, it makes the game a hard sell for fans just wanting to dip their toes into the game.

#1: Most of the problems with BO4’s gameplay can be traced back to the create-a-class system. Being able to spawn with Wraith Fires, a specialist weapon, and four monetized advantages with Elixirs destroyed the early game balance. Choosing perks before each match can not only pigeon-holes you into certain playstyles, but removed any spontaneity from the game.
