This is a demonstration of Unreal Tournament '99 with the DirectX 10 renderer and OpenAL Soft HRTF patches. This patch restores binaural audio and occlusion functionalities from the Aureal A3D soundcard, though compared to the real deal the occlusion is WAY overdone:

Still, the 3D positional audio is excellent. Unfortunately, your use of it may be limited. Not only is the playerbase for UT99 very small, but this patch can be detected by anti-cheat plugins as well. Regardless, UT99 with the OpenAL Soft patch only goes to show just how important positional audio SHOULD be in competitive multiplayer FPS games...but sadly isn't.
