Violence Fight, 1989 Taito
Awful beat-em-up, held in enclosed areas, where you simply take out your frustrations of the world on other barrel-chested palookas using your feet and fists. Choose from 4 different fighters-- BAD BLUE, B. SMITH, LICK JOE (?!), and LEE CHEN-- with 2 special attacks for each utilized by pressing jump and either punch or kick buttons simultaneously. The special attacks take off more damage than regular attacks, but the opponent doesn't seem to often give you the opportunity to pull them off since they take longer to connect. The hit detection and weird ability to easily hit (and get hit) when on different horizontal planes make this one techinically crappy game.. Very frustrating, especially when the opponents get much stronger than you and have much better defense later in the game.. and can pull off successive hits like nothing. Successive hits can knock you down or leave you gasping for air-- the latter situation allows for a close punch button application to THROW. As I stated the enemy just gets too tough and their far superior strength and defense will simply overwhelm you. After 2 fights (best-of-3 for each) you will enter a bonus arena, where you fight a TIGER! And it's nearly impossible to beat; its incredibly basic attacks (I guess.. a bite..? and a very damaging POUNCE) really hurt a hell of a lot more than yours. But if you do beat it, you wil get the opportunity to modestly boost the strength of your punch or kick, and with the strength of the later opponents, even THAT'S not adequate to really tip the scales in your favor. Screw this stupid game! You'll get one more crack at that tiger after facing 2 more opponents (it's white this time), then you face the final boss who is a ripoff of Mr. T.--- but wait! Now you fight your "brother" (simply your doppelganger with a slight pallet swap). Bad misfire by Taito. Suggested by YouTube user psjedi1.
