Wait, Not Every One Does This? Weird Gaming Moves No One Else Does
When it comes to playing games, we all do things a little bit differently. We have our own tips and tricks, or our own idiosyncrasies. There are certain ways that we progress through levels, and there are certain ways that we attack a boss. But what about things that really don't matter that you tend to do? Is there a certain controller you always use? Do you change where you start a level? One of the things I have done for decades has to do with my favorite game of all time, Super Mario World. I was shocked when I found out that Not Every One Does This? Let's take a look at a Weird Gaming Move I do that No One Else Does.
One of the things I love the most about Super Mario World is Yoshi. I think he is a fantastic companion for our lead plumber protagonist, and he's just fun. Who doesn't love Yoshi? While many people enjoy watching him plummet to his death, I enjoy bouncing with Yoshi. And by that I mean whenever you have him and you are in one of the underground levels, there is a specific audio downbeat. I often will double-tap down during this downbeat to make Yoshi and Mario bounce to the beat. It doesn't do anything, doesn't gain you anything, doesn't make you jump higher, doesn't help you avoid enemies. It's just one of those things I have always done and probably always will.
But here's the really strange thing. I didn't realize that not everybody did this. During a live stream, I talked about the fact that I did this and asked the audience whether or not they did it as well. I didn't figure everybody would do it, but I figured quite a few would. Nobody. Not a one. My reaction? Wait, not everyone else does this? Was this just a weird gaming move that nobody else does that only I do? It appears that way, and I'm okay with that. To me, it makes it something special that I do that is fairly unique that I enjoy.
What unique things do you do in different games? Have you ever seen or heard of anyone doing the Yoshi bounce? Let me know down in the comments.
