The game is removed from your PS4’s storage, freeing up space on the hard drive. You won’t see it on the home screen or in your Library’s installed games section anymore. However, since it’s a purchased title tied to your PlayStation Network (PSN) account, you don’t lose ownership. You can redownload it anytime from the PlayStation Store or your Library at no extra cost, as long as your account remains active and the game is still available on the store.
Your save data for the game stays on the PS4 unless you manually delete it from Settings, Storage, System Storage, Saved Data. If you’re a PlayStation Plus member and uploaded saves to cloud storage, those remain safe online too.
Trophies and progress linked to your PSN account aren’t affected—they’ll reappear when you reinstall the game and load your save.
For example, if you delete Call of Duty: Warzone to make space, you can reinstall it later to play Verdansk when it returns on April 3, 2025, without repurchasing. You just need an internet connection to download it again. If the game was part of a PS Plus monthly offer and your subscription lapses, you’d lose access until you resubscribe, but that’s unrelated to deleting it.
