Why Waluigi and Wario Don't Have Girlfriends [Advent Calendar #8]
1,509Waluigi and Wario are core pillars of the Mario fandom, as are Princess Peach and Princess Daisy. Yet, while Daisy was plucked from relative obscurity in Super Mario Land on the original Game Boy and fleshed out into a proper character as a partner for Luigi, Waluigi and Wario have never been given girlfriends.
It's not that the team behind Mario Tennis, the game in which Waluigi debuted, didn't want them. It's that Shigeru Miyamoto himself, the creator of Mario, didn't even want to *look* at their concept art.
