04#: Foundation of Central Station
I'm getting ready to leave the Bridge and establish a new base in the large expanse to the southeast, using up the final resources here on stockpiling solar power, robot frames, and doing research. Blue science is mostly done, and I'm beginning to work on the purple stuff, going towards power armor mkII. After setting up some express belt assembly and doing a bit of work on the existing rail network (setting up a two-way counter-clockwise system and a new ore dropoff station by the smeltery), it's time to begin designing the main central station that will be used for my next factory.
The central station needs to accomodate four areas for iron, copper, stone, and coal, each expandable for more stations as I get more and more trains up and running. This is a big challenge for me, as I've never done this sort of thing before, but I think I came up with a working solution to suit my needs. I like the circular-based intersections, since they make more sense to me than the criss-cross ones. I spent a good while putting it together, only to make a blue-print and tear it down because I wanted to move it over towards the coast a bit more. So here we are, letting the robots build my final implementation of the train station.

ABOUT THIS SERIES:
My goal is to launch as many rockets as possible before the next big patch release (alpha 13) which is "scheduled" sometime mid summer. I say that because the Wube team is more likely to post-pone it if they think it needs more work, but they have said that they're going for June. As of beginning this series, I still have only launched a rocket one time, and I haven't gone large-scale... yet.

Factorio is an early access game that has recently released on Steam, but it has been in development for the past four years by the Wube Software team. This is a game about gathering resources to research technology, craft machines, process materials, and defend your base against angry biters, but this isn't just another survival/crafting game... no no! The name of the game is 'automation', and Factorio is all about finding ways to engineer solutions to your ever expanding horizons. We don't do manual labor here; instead we use our creative problem-solving skills to design a factory to do all the hard work for us.
