To end the nightmare of being stranded, perhaps Mary can be of some assistance with the solution to the puzzle in the cave. I must know the name of the invoker in order to proceed any further with the makeshift antenna. Better yet, Mary can send a rescue team to come pick me up. I don't know exactly where I am, but perhaps giving her a few landmarks can help her pinpoint my location.
Back in the cave, I present a new name when asked to speak the name of the invoker. But I suddenly find myself dropped into a mining area under the cave floor! Complete with tracks, ladders, and lights, I also locate the signal flare needed to flag down a helicopter. But finding my way back up to the surface is a different story. In the foreman's office, I locate a detonator which can be used to blast away a rock wall that's already been rigged to blow. The only way up, may be to climb my way up toward the light.
Once out on the surface, the only thing left to do is light the signal flare and call for rescue. But the story doesn't end there, nor does it end quite so happily. The pilot of the rescue helicopter has other plans in mind for Peter York as this chapter of A Stricken Tale closes out with a twist ending.
