With the alarms blaring, I find myself escaping a vessel that appears to have taken significant damage. It's not long before I locate the body of an astronaut who carries one last transmission. The transmission indicates that the crew located a signal from planet Gliese 86. Had the crew perhaps sought out the source of the signal, traveling down to the planet to investigate further? It certainly seems so. For when I exit what remains of the hull, I find myself on the surface of a barren white planet. Though not completely void of life, water streams flow and plant life grows in patches across the surface.
A series of puzzles lead me further into the planet where I follow trails taken by previous crew members. One section of the planet holds a giant monolith which was instantly teleported out of sight as I arrived. After powering up some machinery, I brave the technology and step into an orb of electricity which teleports me to the location of the monolith. Am I on another ship? Or the same ship but in the past? Charged and translucent creatures stalk the halls of the ship. What are they? It is on this same ship that I find The Others.
