Asante King and the Golden Stool - African Art and History
African art helped to inspire much of my artwork for many years.
This artwork of mine was made many years ago. It depicts an Asantehene which is a king of the Asante AKA Ashanti people of Ghana, with the Golden Stool a very important royal symbol in Asante culture that was given by god to the first king Osei Tutu and it carries the soul of the entire Asante nation. Other Asante art and cultural items are on display here as well like the Kuduo vessels, gold weights, kente cloth, Akrafena (which is a type of African sword which was not just a weapon but a ceremonial item as well) and more. The architecture of this African kingdom is also featured.
Additionally you'll get to learn about not just African kings but African queens as well, specifically the video gives a brief history lesson about one of the Asante kings, Opoku Ware II and an Asante queen named Yaa Asantewaa who fought the British in order to protect their sacred object, the golden stool.
In this art I utilized an African cartoon style AKA African anime art style that I developed over the years. I have plenty more art that was inspired by Africa so stay tuned for more.
I hope you'll enjoy this look back into my artistic past.
And I hope you enjoy my art of the present and future that I show here on the Red Spirit Mask Youtube channel.
