Been a little while, but there's still a couple bosses left I can use to show off a few people in combat.

For starters, a sidequest boss where Strago must be in the party for. Half of it is due to dungeon based reasons (Namely, Hidon won't show up unless Strago is in the party) while the other half has to do with the fact two of Strago's precious lores can be picked up here.

In any case, Hidon comes with four little buddies, each with a different focus. The one furthest back just uses a fairly strong physical skill (Mega Claw) while the others use a special claw skill inflicting some kind of status ailment. If you can block against petrify & berserk, that'll knock out the worst ailments to be hit by. Anything else can quickly be patched up if need be.

As for Hidon, it doesn't do anything of any major concern most of the time, using moves like Acid Rain & Virite often. It also has Quasar, but the damage is only around 350-400 points strong. A quick Cure 2 or similar healing spell will fix that quickly..

Now, bursting it and its buddies down wouldn't be too bad, but those two lores would be very good to pickup while you're here. For the first one, the Mega Claw using Hidonite can fire it off. It's called Shield and is basically a party wide version of the Safe spell. Should use it almost instantly in the early moments of the battle.

The second lore is Black Omen. There's two ways to get this to be used. Most people will likely see it they nuke all the Hidonites. In that case, Hidon will use it after resummoning all four to do around 450+ damage to the entire team. The other way? Using Relm's Sketch command on Hidon.

Once those two lores gets used (assuming Strago isn't disabled when either one is used), go to town and smash the beast to bits (oh, and it isn't undead so don't do what I did here).

Anyways...Strago's still rocking the extreme stamina build and manages to perform well here. Everyone else? None have had a chance to really fight aside from Setzer.

For Relm, she may be a foul mouthed little girl, but try saying that to her face when she's blowing you up with non elemental magics. Being the only one that can equip Bahamut, she's the sole owner of two very potent spells, Meteor & Flare. The latter only targets one, but pierces defenses while the former hits all enemies.

Failing that, she a damned good healer with access to the two best healing spells in the game, Cure 3 & RegenX. Depending on how you build her, you'll go with the former if you have lots of magic and the latter if her stamina is high.

Finally...another one of my favorite characters in this game, Gogo. While he can't equip espers much like Umaro and his stats are far lower compared to the brute force yeti, he makes for it in spades with his versatility. Besides his inherent Mimic ability, allowing him to repeat the last action used by the party, his other three skill slots can be whatever you want. As such, he can be another source of image setting via Smoke Bomb spam or via the Refract lore if needed. Granted, he had a bit of issue here staying alive at one point, but whatever.
