Next boss up for destruction is encountered by team #3, an upgrade of the boss seen during the escape sequence on the mine cart ride back in Vector.

Inferno kicks off the fight with one of its typical combos, a one-two punch of HasteX & Net (inflicts slow & stop). Ideally, whomever gets targeted dodges it (Or just plain block it as Strago demonstrates). If not, a quick Remedy will fix up the affected target.

Besides that, it uses moves like Atomic Ray & Shrapnel. The latter's interesting because it's technically a stamina attack, but if used by Gau via the Mantodea rage or anyone else on the player side, it's counted as a magical attack. When used by the enemy, it's treated as a physical attack. This means anyone capable of countering stands a good chance of smacking the beast.

Besides those two attacks, it also has Hyperdrive, an attack that hits one person for 30 times their level in damage (so 900 damage even to anyone on this team). This puts most of my team in a bit of a tight spot hp wise...that is unless your name is X who could care less with his frankly massive hp total.

As for the dual claws of Inferno, they just straight up attack for the most part, sometimes with a stronger hit. Taking them out seems like an enticing idea, but there are risks to it.

First, they respawn after a period of time passed. Not as bad as the fact that Inferno will do Hyperdrive, then immediately follow up with two physical strikes. Often times, a Hyperdrive + one physical is going to knock out most people. Just be aware of this if you happen to knock out the arms on a regular basis.

As for damage, the claws have high defense while Inferno itself has high magic defense. All the parts are weak to bolt & water.

...Oh dear, my two heaviest hitters (X & Rex) can hit on Inferno's lower defensive statistic . A shame for the bucket of bolts! While X has a more consistent damage output (4k per hit of a Stormfang + an extra 400 damage or so if a Bolt proc goes off), Rex can hit for 5k twice if lucky via jumping.

As for the others...Strago needs only two turns and he can have the entire party setup with safe & shell buffs. Other than that, he's got the option of knocking out the arms in two shots of Tsunami or sitting back and popping a Holy Wind for healing if need be.

Finally...Zero's just pulling primary healing duties here (and a use of Defibrillator when some old man hit the floor). Might be able to respec him into a vigor setup and put somebody more healing focused like Relm in Strago's spot. We'll see.
