Next of Kefka's big bad bully brigade to be dealt with is Asura.

Asura's primary element of choice is ice, manifest in skills like Ice 2 & Absolute Zero. He's got quite the magical skill though so you may be requiring some shell applications and/or ice resistance in some form for Absolute Zero if anyone is under 100 magic defense.

Besides that, Asura's backup element is water via Tsunami.

However, that's not what makes Asura really threatening. His main danger is being able to freeze party members solid. Cold Dust wouldn't be so bad on its own, but it's his opener and something he can do throughout the fight, N.Cross, that sets the tone for the battle. It's Cold Dust, but hitting the whole party. Yes, it's possible to see your whole party frozen by this move.

There's two ways to break freeze though that doesn't involve either waiting for the afflicted person or persons to die or just to wait until it wears off. Any fire spell will break it as will the Sun Bath skill from sources like Gau's Mesosaur rage or Mog's Wind Song dance.

Oh, and if all that wasn't bad enough? When Asura gets low on hp, he can start using Meteo. It's an attack that targets everyone and pierces defenses, but has low accuracy. You'd best hope those space rocks miss somehow because otherwise you're looking at roughly 1500+ damage to those that get hit. Usually, Rerise is going to be the only way to readily survive it for most parties around lv30.

Simple strategy on my end. Anyone not named Celes is on beat up the giant demonic beast duty after some opening buffs, namely Bserk on my two physical hitters (Zero & Umaro). Mog fires up Wind Dance and is a third berserked unit in essence for me.

Celes? She's going to make sure people don't die. If people get frozen, she can get rid of that via her personal fire/wind nuke, Merton, available only to her via the Crusader esper. As long as everyone nulls one of Merton's elements, it'll cancel out the damage. Being able to damage Asura at the same time with Merton is nice too.

Aside from the above, Celes just spams Cure 2 or revives as needed.

Surprised how quickly this fight went considering a rogue N.Cross froze the only two people capable of removing said status (and the other two were berserk, hooray!) at one point. At the very least, Zero gets a boss kill under his belt (and did amazingly well with a vigor build while two handing the Excalibur I might add).
