Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

The latest version of the mod can always be found here: http://jeffludwig.com/bof2/download.php

As always, do your own search for the ROM you need.

Well, got the pillow we need. Guess it's time to pay a visit to the giant tree from before.

Off screen, I switched up shamans. Mostly to turn Spar into mushroom girl by fusing him with the water shaman. His Nature command gets turned into the Spore command while a mushroom girl...and it sucks, plain and simple. Either it'll sleep the enemies or it'll sleep your party.

Upon returning to our lovable giant tree, it'll let you finally go into its mind. Do so, then enter the nearby town.

This town is unique in that there are three versions of it. The town is structured the same for all versions of it, just the people that inhabit it are different. In the case of the first town, it has all old people in it.

Talk to all of them to find out some kind of demon who devours hearts attacked the town of Memory, causing him to not talk right, and that there's some kind of memory tower where important memories are stored.

The old man running the storage is actually this entire area's armory. Consider picking up at least a Double Whip for another sizable boost to Spar's attack.

When you're done here, exit town and head southeast to a bridge and go straight east to hit the next town, one where it's populated by young adults. You'll learn more about this heart devouring demon which made the tree go senile and a bit about the dragon clan.

After exiting town, head west a bit, then head north to the final town, one with kids in it...for the most part. The kid at the entrance states something interesting...that there only should be two such towns in this memory world, not three. There's also a kid who mentions that you can see the tower from the nearby lake.

Before leaving, check out the inn. When I said this town had kids for the most part, there's one individual that is the exception, a man by the name of Barose. I've been waiting to fill the last house of Township for quite awhile with his services, one that will greatly benefit several members of my team once I'm out of here.

But of course, business. Head back to the town of old people to find out that it's actually the tower that kid mentioned.

The gimmick here is a bit annoying. Basically, you can't see immediately in front of you. You'll have to keep your eyes open ahead of where you want to go to make sure you have a path there.

Enemies are, for the most part, pretty easy. P.Eaters love to run, Jackies have massive physical defense and low hp, and Rapiders do nothing threatening whatsoever.

RoadSlugs though? They can cast Thunder or Lightning, the latter being able to do 60-80 to everyone. They can appear in pairs and both can use Lightning on the same turn.

Now, for getting through this area. Start out on the 1st floor by talking to the old man in the back of the room. He'll offer to take you to the entrance for 100 zenny. The first time you do this will place you near the stairs going up to the next floor. Have the old man do this once more to get two chests, the Auto Bow which allows Bow's regular attacks to hit all enemies, and the Earth Armor which is a sizable defensive upgrade for an already tanky Rand. Talk to the old man once more to get out of the tower, then head right back in, have the old man warp you to the stairs, and take two sets of them going up.

In the next large room, go south, then west to a chest with a WisUp in it. Head back to the start of this room, go north all the way, then west to stairs going up. Take those, then the next set of stairs going up in the next room.

This room is annoying with the gimmick in play. Long & straight paths. Keep an eye ahead of where you want to go, more so now than the last two large rooms. The two chests in this room are a HeroBelt in the northwest (Accessory, +10 atk) and an AloyBand in the southeast.

After taking yet another pair of stairs upwards, you'll be in a small room. Aim for the door in the north central part of the room. Heal up, then talk to the old man in back. Turns out its that demon that ate the tree's memory...and, as it reveals in a secret, the memory of what Ryu did back in Gate. Said enemy attacks. Joke boss fight. That is all.

Afterwards, warp out of here, then head back to the town of kids. The storage kid will let you get out of the memory.

Next, have Spar talk to the tree. Choose the option "green" to find out you should head south next. Do just that and you'll find a man saying the fog to the south is too thick and that something likely happened at SkyTower.

Warp back to your choice of town and save up.
