Chrono Trigger: Part 06
0I am at the Fiendlord's Castle taking on boss fights with Ozzie, Slash, and Flea. Notice these bosses are named after famous rockstars? Slash gave me a little trouble, but I knew what I needed to do, it was executing that was the problem. Weirdly, I felt like I was having more trouble with Flea but was able to beat him in my first attempt. Ozzie wasn't difficult, it was getting to him and taking on all those enemies that I found to be the most trouble.
Then it was Magus. After two attempts I had to quit. He was annihilating me so fast. I understand what I need to do, but I can't seem to get the rhythm of the battle down. I'm unsure exactly what needs to happen or when to strike. Robo seems worthless. I don't have any mid-potions or potions at all. I would like the opportunity to restock before taking him on, but it doesn't seem like the game is going to allow me to do that. I very well could be stuck here. Frog is the only party member that I have that can heal, and I need him to hit Magus with the Masamune to weaken his magic defense. I think it's a rhythm thing. I thought I chose the wait playstyle, but it seems I'm playing with active. Whatever. I'm just going to try and get through this battle.
I haven't felt as frustrated as I expected. Even though I stop playing in between boss battle attempts, I don't necessarily do it out of frustration. Usually, these battles happen at the 1.5-hour mark which is when I grow tired of playing any game.
It's good. I like how quickly I can get through battles, boss battles notwithstanding.
