Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time - Episode 6: You Bastards! You Blew it Up!
0In today's episode of the "Crash 4" playthrough, we complete a Mardi Gras-themed level before playing our first Dingodile stage, which shakes things up both in terms of gameplay and the language that can be used in a "Crash" game.
Along with the N. Sanity Island hub right at the start of the game, I really like the Louisiana bayou area that they use for the fifth hub.
For the first level in the hub, you're tossed into a Mardi Gras celebration where you need to traverse the city's rooftop, complete with jazzy music and a parade in the background filled with Easter eggs. And while this level may be one of the longest we've encountered as of yet, it doesn't feel all that difficult.
Though the level that takes the cake for this hub is the second one, where for the first time in the series, we get to play as Dingodile, and as you'd expect, his gameplay is drastically different from Crash, Coco, and Tawna's. Unlike the bandicoots, who focus on fast-paced platforming, Dingodile's stages revolve around him smashing crates and lots of them, from destroying bunches of them with his spin attack's huge hitbox to using his trusty vacuum to suck them up from a distance.
Not to mention, this level is the first instance of a character using the word "bastard" in the "Crash" series, which caused me to pause the game for several minutes so that I could laugh my ass off because it was so out of the blue. And the best part is that unlike in "Shadow the Hedgehog", where it feels like words like "damn" were shoved in there purely for the sake of making the game edgier, Dingodile's use of the word "bastard" is very fitting for the moment it's used. I mean, wouldn't we all say something similar if some random thugs blew up our business for no apparent reason?
