Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex - Episode 6: Some Bandicoots just Want to Watch the World Burn
In today's episode of the "Wrath of Cortex" playthrough, we complete some Coco levels and defeat Crunch for a third time.
Hope you like Coco, because all three of the levels that we're tackling in today's video involve us playing as her in some way, shape, or form.
First on the list, we have the final stage of the third hub, "Tsunami", which, as the name implies, involves Coco racing down a busy street on a scooter in order to escape the wall of water that's rushing her way. Other than that, the only thing of note in this stage is that if you have the blue gem from "Artic Antics", you're able to take the platform at the end of the stage to a gem path that has arguably the most awkward jump in the game. Seriously, one of the jumps you have to make on this path involves you jumping horizontally to the right, but also slightly upwards. Not to mention, with how the camera's positioned, it looks like that block would be too far to reach.
For the third boss fight against Crunch, even though he's teaming up with Py-Ro, the leader of the Elementals, the fight is on par with, if not easier, than the Wa-Wa fight. Essentially, you just run away from Crunch while dodging his fireballs, jump into the mech at the end of the road, and spray his back with water before he gets back to the start of the area. In fact, the hardest part of this fight is trying to hit Crunch's back since the mech slows down while you're spraying, meaning that you'll have to wait until you're close enough to him while dodging the flaming rocks that he drops during the second and third phases.
Once Crunch has been sprayed three times, you get the Death Tornado Spin ability, which is just as useful and fun as it was in "Crash 3". Unfortunately, thanks to this game's love of vehicles in levels, you won't get to enjoy it as much as you'd want.
Speaking of vehicle levels, since we ended the third hub with Coco, we might as well start the fourth one with her, with the first level being "Crashteroids", the final aerial battle level in the game that involves Coco flying around in her spaceship and destroying three space stations. However, while we only have to destroy three objects instead of six, we can't even scratch those space stations without destroying the shield generators surrounding them. Thankfully, the space ship has a standard machine gun, so while Cortex's minions can quickly drain your HP in a matter of seconds if you aren't careful, it feels more fair.
As for the next level, "Avalanche", it's like "Tsunami", only this time, we're using a snowboard to speed down a mountain in order to get away from an avalanche while eerily upbeat music plays in the background. In addition, the second gem in this stage can be obtained by going through all of the flags.
Speaking of which, in both "Tsunami" and "Avalanche", if you hold down the spin button, Coco's vehicle will move much faster.
