Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex - Episode 9: No Rush in this Gold Rush
In today's episode of the "Wrath of Cortex" playthrough, we complete the longest level in the game, "Gold Rush", and the final mech stage.
For the first level in this video, we're tackling "Gold Rush", a stage that I have mixed feelings on. On the one hand, I love the Wild West aesthetic and the music. But on the other hand, I'm not fond of how long the level is. In fact, this level's one of the longest in the entire series and held the record for most crates in a stage until "No Dillo Dallying" from "Crash 4" beat it with its staggering total of 502. However, despite this stage's length, it's surprisingly lax and is more tedious than difficult, which is mostly due to all of the monkey bar sections.
Other than that, the only other thing of note about this stage is that it has a no-death platform that leads to the yellow gem, which upon obtaining, opens up a minecart route full of nitro crates in "Compact Reactor" that leads to its second gem.
For our next stage, we have "Crate Balls of Fire" (which was originally going to be the title of Episode 6 until I remembered that this stage existed), which is the final level to feature the mech suit, which feels like a downgrade now that we can launch fruit ourselves while maintaining our normal mobility. However, instead of blasting objects, this stage instead focuses on us running way from several explosions. Thankfully, there aren't too many obstacles present in the chase section, so the mech's awkward jump won't really impede you.
